We are the Champions!!!!

Tonight was Timmy's championship game for his Tyke team, the Rangers, and guess what .... we won!!! The game was a real nail biter..... both teams tying it up all along.....I thought my chest was going to explode, especially the last few seconds when we were up 6-5 and the play was in our end... ahh! My little Timmy got his first assist, woo hoo! I am so proud of you Bubby! And boy can he skate around waving one hand at the crowd and the other clutching his trophy!

Baby Blanket

I've mentioned in previous blogs that my friend Heather is having a baby boy on May 1st, well today is her baby shower. Timmy, Jamie and I are all heading off to the shower later on this morning. Here is a sneak peak at one of her gifts.... a crocheted blanket that I made for the baby. I finished it on Thursday evening just in time!! I was actually a little concerned that I wouldn't finish in time... which is unusual for me as I tend to be fairly effective at time management, but things kept cropping up this month! No matter tho, it's done and all ready to go.

Seriously!

Check out the counter, 8 sleeps until the 2SF weekend retreat at the Oakwood Inn in Grand Bend!! I am way too excited! I'm not ready and my weekend is full of kid stuff (well except one scrap night!) and I have an extra kidlet for the weekend. On top of that we are on call! Which means you never can tell what can happen! So that just adds to the craziness I call my life!! It's all good!

I am however, a little concerned about the retreat this time around. Last time, I went with a group of girlfriends and they were the only people I knew at the retreat, tho we met a few new scrappy friends that weekend. We had such a blast. You may have seen us, we were the ones in the cute matching T's and yes we will don them again this time! It's all part of the fun! Buuutt, this time I have "met" several of you through the 2SF forum and this is were my worries lie, I cannot see more than 4-5 feet in front of me at best, so if I don't recognize you right off the hop, please don't feel offended, it's not intentional. (I have had times where I didn't recognize my husband or best friend across the street!!) I am gonna try my best but if I miss you please tell me so! Okay? Thanks!! Oh and this goes for Scrapfest, too! I really appreciate it!! See ya in a week!!!

Green and lucky challenge

One of the 2SF forum members, Wendy, posted a challenge to the members, suggesting we create a layout using mostly the colour green and the word "lucky". This is what I came up with...

Thanks for the challenge, Wendy!!

My Little Man ...

... is 6 today! Happy Birthday and St. Patrick's Day, Timmy! I love you, monkey! Today we celebrate your birth... six years ago; tomorrow, March 18th, we celebrate the day you came home to us ...six years ago; and July 5th we celebrate the day you became forever ours... three and a half years ago. Has it really been that long, seems only a minute sometimes.

This is Timmy having a mini birthday celebration with his friend, Avery (or "my love", as he refers to her!). Avery cannot make it to Timmy's birthday party as she will be out of town, so she stopped by today with her Mom, Heather, and baby sister, Alora with some surprises for Timmy including this decorated giant cookie! How sweet is that! Thank you Martin clan, we are blessed to have such wonderful and giving friends.

Happy Girl

I recently finished making a BoBunny word book album for my niece for her birthday. She is the only female offspring of my 3 siblings and I, so she is the family princess, and rightfully so! The album was really nice to work with and the papers were so perfectly pretty.

I added journalling in the format of a little storybook to the album, this is how it reads...

Once upon a time, on an early spring day,a princess was born. Her royal parents named
named her Zaida. Zaida, a beautiful princess, was cherished by all who knew her. Zaida loved to play in the beautiful sunshine, and snuggle with her friends and family. The little princess was given fancy hair-dos and fine clothing. And she lived happily, ever after!

I have been tagged!

Joanne of Two Scrapbook Friends tagged me in the fourth folder / fourth picture game. The instructions are to go to the fourth file in your picture folder. Then choose the fourth picture and post it on your blog.

As silly as this picture is, I really like it. I recently came across this picture again, it was taken about a year ago at Fran's diner in Toronto. Ian and I took Timmy away for the weekend last year to do some fun kid stuff. If you know the dynamics of our family, you'd know that Timmy spends a large amount of his time with his teeenaged brothers. He was showing signs of needing to be a little kid. Ian and I were all too happy to oblige and act like kids again ourselves. We stayed at a nice hotel with an indoor pool, visited Medieval times, the ROM and a few other places, too. We had a great time! As parents we didn't need to worry about cooking or cleaning just playing, it was exactly what Timmy needed. Hmm, makes me think we should do it again!!

I recently was looking through my files for pictures to put on a "You & Me" layout that I did at a class at 2SF, this was one picture that I chose to add to the layout. What struck me as sad is, that out of the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of pictures we have of Timmy, there were only approximately 18 of him and I together. I can only blame myself for this as I hate to have my picture taken... but I have vowed to change this as I want him to remember the good times we have together, I think I will make this a belated New Years Resolution!

Now I am going to tag a couple of more people to see what results they will have in the fourth folder / fourth picture game will be ... Michelle and Cheryl, you have been tagged.

So Proud!

Recently my DH, Ian, finished a community college course he has been taking for the last couple of years. Yesterday his diploma came in the mail. He graduated with honours, achieving a 98%! Two years of classes, homework and schedule juggling in his "midish" 40's has paid of big time!! Congratulations Ian, I am so proud!

Shower Card

My friend, Heather, is having a baby boy in May! Her family is hosting a shower for her in April, but unfortunately I cannot attend (it's the spring retreat weekend!). I spent some time today making this card to go along with the gift I am sending. It turned out too cute to wait to post it in April ,so I thought I'd give a sneak peak now. I saw this idea in an old issue of Papercrafts magazine and modified it a little. The rattle on this card has a clear top, made with an acetate sheet, inside are some little buttons that are free floating to make the shaker aspect.

Oh by the way, heather if you see this act surprised when you receive this card!! lol

Friendzy Friday Submission

Every friday, one of the 2SF design team members posts a tip, technique or storage idea on the store blog. This week it was my turn, and here is what I submitted....

One of my favourite ways to add texture to a card or layout is by using my Cuttlebug. It is very easy to use and the effect is awesome! There are several different embossing folders available for the Cuttlebug, giving effects from whimsical to elegant, as well as seasonal themes

And depending on the paper you choose to emboss you could have even more options! If you use white core cardstock, you can gently sand the embossed paper for an aged or distressed effect.
Or you can lightly run an ink pad over the top to highlight the raised/embossed portion.
As an added bonus technique you can use your circle punch to punch out a circle, then put the punched circle partly back into the punch and punch again, this will give you a leaf shape.

Put all your pieces together, add a little flower and brad, and this is what you get!!
Hope you all have fun with your Cuttlebugs!

Two Scrapbook Friends March Design Team Reveal!

This month the DT was given a kit made up of the Equinox line from Rose Moka, it is a great line to work with. The papers are such great quality, super thick with deep rich colours. I also loved the addition of cardboard into the kit! I enjoyed playing with that for the first time!
