Boo to you!

(click on picture for a larger view)

Here is a little peek at my little Timmy taken on our lawn just before he went to haunt up the neighbourhood for treats!

He was so excited to trick or treat this year he even drew himself a map of the neighbourhood with his "must hit" friends houses marked on it!

When he got home he has a blast handing out candy to all his "customers"... his words not mine! He is so funny, he just cracks me up!!

Hope all of you had a fun and safe Halloween too!

Halloween Treats

Timmy and I spent some time last week making these little treat bags up for his classmates, for their Halloween Party at school today. He loves being crafty and stamping and gluing! But he seems to be losing patience with a good old glue stick and prefers scrapping adhesive! Not surprisingly though as it is so much easier and less messy to use.

Unfortunately, he has been off school sick for the last week and a half so he will miss the party today, no matter though, he can share on Monday. It will give him something to look forward to on his return to school!

A little too much nature....

Driving home from work last Monday night, at about 10:00 pm, my DH, Ian, was hit by a deer. Yes you read that right the deer hit him! It leaped out onto the road and right into the side of our little car. Thankfully, Ian was unhurt, unfortunately the deer wasn't. While I feel badly for the deer, I am so thankful that the deer hit Ian and not the other way around as it likely wouldn't have ended so well for Ian. I have to say our insurance company was fantastic, the damage is estimated at about $3500.00 and they are not raising our rates at all. They were super helpful and kind to Ian. And more than a little shocked when he declined the rental car our policy allows, saying he was happy to drive our second vehicle if they put the commute coverage on that one instead.

edited at 2:00pm Friday....Well hell... the insurance company just wrote off our litle beast of a car... now what to do!

You're Invited!

My good friend Laura S. is planning, organizing and running a crop to raise money and awareness for a cure for Crohn's and Colitis. The event is called Just Gutsta Scrap and this will be the second crop Laura has organized for this cause, and I know it will be a great day! We had a ton of fun at the first annual crop, last February! There was great food, prizes, lots of crop space, vendors and great company and laughter! Laura was pleased with the funds raised last year.... let's see if we can all help her beat it this year!! I'd love to see you all come out for the event!

If you would like to join us on February 27th for the crop you can register here. If you would like more information on this event, being a vendor, donating a prize, etc. you can contact my friend, Laura here.

Good luck Laura!! I hope to see you a ton before February, but I am very much looking forward to your crop!!

Comfort food, of sorts....

Wow, has today ever been a week that i would love to see the tail end of. Almost all of us (6 of the 7) have been sick with high fevers, headache and dry cough. Last night I was up at 3.00 am trying to get Timmy's fever down, it really stresses me out when he has a fever that won't quit as I am afraid it will induce a seizure, anyway while I watched him sleep, i paid some bills, did some laundry, watched some tv and noticed that my hubby also had a fever so I took him some tylenol and fluids.

Timmy was, obviously, home from school today and so was my eldest foster son. My youngest foster son just returned to school today after being home for three days. I spent the day making sure the boys got enough fluids, tried to get them to eat something and letting them rest, while I scrubbed walls and baseboards and did more laundry.

This afternoon I decided we needed some comfort food, so I modified an apple crunch recipe to make apple crunch tarts.... yum!!

I thought I'd share the recipe.....
Apple Crunch Tarts
-24 tart shells, ( I used premade, cause really why not!)
-6 baking apples, peeled and finely diced
-1/2 cup brown sugar
toss these two ingredients together, then put into tart shells
-3/4 cup flour
-3/4 cup white sugar
-1/4 tsp salt
-1/2 tsp cinnamon
mix these 4 ingredients together
-1 slightly beaten egg
mix into flour mixture until you get a course mixture, then divide this mix evenly over the tarts
-1/3 cup melted butter
drizzle over tarts
bake at 375 until golden brown and tender
These lovely little tarts are super yummy served warm, especially with whipped cream, ice cream or cool whip (if you are lactose intolerant like me). Enjoy if you try the recipe!
Tomorrow, i hope, we will be on the mend. Meantime, tonight I am going to have a tart and watch Grey's Anatomy and relax.
Thanks for stopping by!

TSF October Product Challenge

Each month the ladies over at Two Scrapbook Friends put together a few items in a kit for a product challenge. The kit is only a few dollars and is a great way to challenge yourself to come up with a layout based on stuff someone else has chosen, and only a few things at that. The rules are you can add anything you want to the kit from your stash, but you have to use everything that came with the kit, if only a small piece. If you participate in the challenge and post your layout in their gallery you are entered into a draw to win a prize!

This is a picture of this month's kit....

This is my finished layout.....
This picture of Timmy was taken while we were at Disney during a pirate makeover he had, and while it is not really a Halloween layout i like this picture with the skulls on the patterned paper so I went with it. It is my first layout from our Disney trip!
Thanks for looking, have a scrappy day!

Friendzy Friday!

It's my turn to do a tutorial on a tip or technique for the Two Scrapbook Friends Blog today, so I decided to share a bit about altering foam Thickers.

Gather your supplies, you will need: foam Thickers, waxed paper, an embossing gun, Versamark, and a background stamp of some sort.

First, wet your stamp with Versamark, this will keep it from sticking to the heated Thickers, so you do not ruin your stamp or your Thickers.

Next, place your desired letters onto waxed paper (this retains their tackiness while allowing you to work away from your finished project) heat the Thickers until they begin to curl (sorry for the lousy picture, but you get the idea) as you can see I practiced on an 'x" first.

Immediately press your wet stamp into the letter, holding firmly for a minute or so. If you do not like the result you can gently heat the letter again and retry.

You will notice that your altered Thickers are slightly smaller than the original now.

Here is a card I made using my altered Thickers. I used the Pagemap's sketch from TSF's blog, which was posted as part of the National Card Making day challenge. Check out the close up shot for a better view of the altered letters.

Thanks for visiting, hope you have a scrappy day!

Fall Fun!

Today we took the four younger boys to a local apple farm for some fall fun! It was such a beautiful day, we had been planning this all week long and hoping the weather man was right in his forecast for a mild day today, and boy was he right! It was mucky, and of course Timmy fell in it, but otherwise it was a stunning day and we had so much fun!

We picked apples, went through a Haunted Barn (well not me!), went through a corn maze (Ian and I took substantially longer than the kids, we could hear Timmy yelling for us at the exit but it seemed like for ever until we got there!), pony rides (again not me!), an hay bale obstacle course, made a scarecrow for our yard, and bowled with pumpkins! So much fun!

Here is a few pics (pretty much just of Timmy as I cannot post pics of our foster sons for privacy reasons) ....

Karate Kid!

This week we signed Timmy up for Karate, partially as bribery to get him to go in to school without crying, partly for discipline and partly for self-confidence (he has been bullied at school a fair bit this year). This picture was taken on Wednesday evening, his third class. he is super proud of himself! Now i will have to come up with a creative way to display this hunk of wood! lol

Halloween Banner

This past Sunday I was feeling pretty crummy, I had to miss out on an outing with my scrappy friends, I didn't want to infect anyone else with this bug I have been fighting nor did I have the energy to go out. So Timmy and I had a PJ day and spent a little time crafting together. That boy really loves to use the Cricut! We came up with this Halloween Spin on the 'Joy' banner I made last Christmas.
Turned out kind of cute, eh?
Thanks for looking and have a scrappy day!
