My Final Reveal for Creative Scrappers Birthday Bash

Woo Hoo! Lucky me, I was chosen by Creative Scrappers to be a one of the designers on a Readers Reveal! I was given yet another chance to play along with their big month long Birthday Bash by creating a layout using a sketch they sent me, you can view it here (the sketch was designed by Jana Eubank). Funny thing is I peek in at her blog regularly so that was a fun perk!

As an added bonus, I managed to do another Disney layout, that's 4 or 5 now! This sketch provided a great way to incorporate several of the resort scenery shots that I took. Timmy also, loved the way the cleaning staff laid his towels out on his bed in the shape of Mickey's head and 'staged' the several stuffed animals he packed and/or purchased on his pillow! The papers are Scrap Within Reach's Carnival Ride line. I also used Thickers and some bling.

My apologies the scan is so poor, this layout had a fair bit of dimension and didn't take to scanning very well.

Hope you get a chance to play today!

fun together

Last Wednesday was a busy night, I had boot camp and my monthly scrap club meeting. After boot camp I ran home for a quick shower and whatnot (that was for your benefit Chris and Anita!) then ran over to my scrappy club. It was Jenn's (you can check out her blog here) turn to bring the inspiration layout (her own or lifted) for the rest of us to copy. We have also decided to take it one step further and show a tip, trick or technique on our turns. Jenn decided to share faux stitching and circles on the cricut.

This is her inspiration photo (sorry I am not sure where she got it, but it is a lift) ....

Here is Jenn's take.......

And here is my take...

It was definitely worth the running around as I had a great time an like the way my layout turned out!

Hope you get some scrappy time today, the weather is perfect for it!!

More of Me at Creative Scrappers!

When Creative Scrappers announced they were having a month long birthday bash, they also announced that they were having a call out for sketches so I submitted 5 (better odds, eh). Anyway I have posted previously that they used two of my sketches earlier in the month , for this celebration. They are now using another one! Yippee! So exciting!! You can check it out all the layouts that were created based on my sketch here.

This is the sketch that I drew and submitted ....

The very kind Kristine at CS converted it to digital for me ( I am still less than confident in my digital sketching abilities) ....

And here are two takes on the sketch, that I did the other day.

Enjoy and have a crafty day!

another challenge card

I have been wanting to try making paper ruffles for a while now and the current challenge over at Little Red Wagon was to use ruffles on a project, so the timing was perfect, right?

I also needed to make a first birthday card for a friend's little one, so naturally I combined the two endeavours.

These ruffles were super fun, I will definitely be making them again!

Have a scrappy day!

In honour of Earth Day...

Happy Earth Day everyone, thought I'd share a bit about house cleaning (fun stuff, eh?). I don't know about all of you but a few years ago I started having strange reactions to store bought bathroom and kitchen cleaning products, like dizziness and numbness in my arms, etc. I stopped using it figuring if it was doing that to me, what is it doing to the kiddies (especially my youngest who is asthmatic) and the environment.

Now I make my own, and you can too. It is extremely cheap to make your own, better for the environment because you are not using so many harmful chemicals, and I use the same bottle over and over and over and over so I have much less garbage (you many need to change your bottle every couple of years).

In a large spray bottle add about 1/4 cup of bleach (bleach breaks down into salt and water and is not harmful to the environment at the household level) fill the remainder of the bottle with good old tap water and then add a squirt of dish soap (this helps your solution stick to vertical surfaces for a bit so you can more easily scrub them. As with use of any bleaches you need to be careful of the using them near fabrics, but this product is great for bathrooms, vinyl shower curtains, I even spray it on a cloth and wipe down the banisters and door knobs etc. And for my ceramic floors simply adding a 1/4 cup of bleach to the bucket of water does the trick!

How is that for a lot of cleaning power for about two bucks of bleach! it lasts for months and months!

Now on a more fun note, I am hoping to create something today and also in honour of earth day I am challenging myself to use something that may otherwise be thrown out, like packing material, packaging or scraps, anything of that nature.... why don't you play along? Let me know what you create.

Thanks for popping by!

a new trick for a young pup....

Timmy spent some time learning to tie his new shoes (the big boy style with laces!), on the weekend. Dad helped him out with this lesson, I tried but am apparently unable to teach that skill lol, I couldn't verbalize what I was showing him at all!! Oh well, that's what Dads are for I guess! Anyway, Timmy did great and was super proud of himself! Now we just need to practice, practice, practice!

Another challenge card....

I made this little card up quick the other day, I was so in the mood to play but needed to head out the door in 20 minutes for boot camp! I used this week's challenge over at Little Red Wagon, which was to dry emboss. And as an added perk, when I checked their blog for this week's challenge I was super thrilled to see my card from last week featured, thanks Ladies!

Hope you have a scrappy day!

Happy Easter!

Last night I scrapped with my friend, Victoria, as always we had a good chat and some great laughs!

These are my creations for the evening (I had coloured my bunnies earlier in the week with my Copics, which was also fun as I hadn't had a chance to play with them for a while. I am still looking at taking a class, but it was fun to play!) I am going to use these little tags for my childrens' Easter treats!

Wishing you a great long weekend and a Happy Easter!

Enjoy Spring!

When I opened my eyes this morning to Timmy asking for his breakfast, I thought it would be a lovely morning to have my tea on the patio. Apparently Timmy had the same idea, as soon as I made his eggs he scooped up his plate and cup and took them outside. He is such an outdoors boy! I hope we have a whole bunch of days like this! We love it!

A few plans for today.... laundry, some home schooling (yes I know it's a holiday), housework, washing the car, a drive in the country and a picnic dinner!

Enjoy the day!
