If you want the rainbow....

I sat down to craft the other night and this is what I created, it made me think of one of my very close friends (you know who you are), so I promptly mailed it to her, hoping it would put a smile on her face. She just let me know she received it and it helped, in some small way to cheer her up. Yayy!

Hugs my friend!

Hoping everyone is having a great day!

Mad Science

As part of our homeschooling curriculum for this past school year, Timmy and I completed a fair bit of science experiments. He loved that part of the week. They were fun, creative, informative and they help to mix things up.

This layout portrays an especially easy and fun experiment....

If you want to try the experiment with your kiddies, you need.....

a shallow bowl
four colours of liquid food colouring
liquid dish soap

Pour the milk into the shallow bowl until it is about a 1/2 inch deep. Place a few drops of each colour of food colouring, approximately equal distances apart. Squirt some dish soap into the centre of the bowl. Watch the colour swim and dance, like a kaleidoscope. Eventually all the colour will blend together, but it's fun while it last!

Hope you get to have some fun today1

1st Grade

Well, what can I say.... not much about this day (or school year) went according to plan. Timmy started the school year by waking up with a swollen eye, a reaction to some sort of insect bite. (You can read more about this crazy day last September here.} It was also a lousy school year, to say the least, which ended in me homeschooling Timmy. (You can read more about that choice here.)

Despite all of that, I really wanted to scrap these photos, this day was an important part of his life. I was hoping it would be sort of therapeutic to do this layout, but it turned out to one of those 'pulling teeth' layouts, which I went back to six times before I decided to leave to alone!

Anyway, I do plan to complete this layout with some hidden journalling with a letter to Timmy that he can read when he is older. I hope he remembers this year with lots of positive thoughts, we did have fun despite a rough start.

(My apologies, the scan cut off the bottom, oops!)

Have a great day!

Some exciting news!

Two fabulous friends of mine, Anita and Elaine, have begun a new journey... they have started an online scrapbooking store ScrapMuch? , that also offers classes and retreats! I am super excited for these ladies, they have the charm, smarts and skills to bring this dream into a full fledged reality! Their goal is to become a full service scrapbooking store, as time goes by. I am definitely going to do my part to help them achieve it, too!

They have asked me to join them as the store designer and I couldn't be more thrilled!

Check out the store's blog for information on the store's official opening, the 'going to fabulous' retreat and the products they will offer.

Congratulatons ladies, I am so proud of you! Thanks for letting me come along for the ride!

Hope to see you all at the retreat!

On Saturday we received an offer on our house, it was basically an insult. I'm sure it wasn't intended that way but that is sure how it felt. I'm guessing it's more likely that the potential buyers were trying to see how desperate we were to sell. We countered very, very close to our asking price sending a message that we are not desperate at all. The potential buyer sent us another offer, increasing the amount they were willing to pay fairly significantly but not enough, from our standpoint. We send back another message by declining this offer completely.

That night we went to bed, content with our decision and figuring we would be staying put for at least another year. We were having a lazy Sunday morning when our agent called asking if the potential buyers from the day before could come through again. After this viewing, they sent us a much more reasonable offer, and one that we couldn't turn down. Now our house was sold conditional on financing and a home inspection. They gave themselves 10 days to waive the conditions and we were sort of secretly hoping they couldn't do it. (Did I mention how much we love our house and our neighbours?)

Anyway, tonight was the home inspection, which our little home passed with flying colours. And shortly afterward, our agent called and said the buyer waived all conditions and firmed up the sale. Hmmm, we are both feeling a little bittersweet. We know we have the skills to make our next house a home and to some extent we are looking forward to it, but we wish we could bring our friends with us.

Looking forward and moving on, Saturday we will start to look at houses that will meet the initial needs of our family, and one we can put our own personal stamp on and make it ours. I am hoping our children, especially our youngest, adjusts well to a new home and a new school.

If you want to see pictures and read more about our little house, you can check it out here.

Wish us luck in our search for home!

A Masculine Card

I made this the other day for a neighbour friend. I stamped a bunch images before going away to the cottage, and coloured them in one evening while the men folk were fishing!

Hope you have a scrappy day!

PS. Watch for some exciting news coming out soon!

Punch Storage

I picked up this Debbie Travis shoe bag from Canadian Tire the other day for $15. it's a great way to store my punches. It can hang on the door to my scrappy space, I love that the pockets are clear so I can see exactly what i want.

Do you have any creative storage ideas for your scrappy stuff?

A lift and a Challenge

My friend Elaine gave em a sweet birthday card....

I told her I was going to scraplift it for sure. When I saw this week's challenge over at Little Red Wagon , which is Christmas in July, I knew I would use Elaine's card for inspiration.

This is what I came up with....

and here is a close up.....

I used papers from My Minds Eye, Rubons and acrylic bits from Little yellow Bicycle, Bling from Kaisercraft, Stamp from Close to my Heat and Copics. i think he's kind of cute, but I am partial to snowmen. How 'bout you?
