Altered Cork Tag / ScrapMuch?

Hi friends!

I was a creating layout the other day and playing with some really fun cork tags from Little Yellow Bicycle (for my February 1st reveal for ScrapMuch?), I used one as it was but the second one I used I wanted to alter just a little bit.  This is what I came up with and I thought I'd share because it is super easy and looks cute, so I thought you might want to try it too!

Yup, it is that easy, just a tag and a punch. Love it!  And now I have 2 embellishments for the price of 1!

Check back Saturday if you want to see how I used this sweet tag!

Thanks fro visiting!

Dapper / Let's Get Sktchy / Echo Park

Hi there!

Happy Monday!  It's my team's turn to create over at Let's Get Sketchy this week, and I am here to share my layout with you!

This layout didn't quite come together how I planned it in my head. Does that ever happen to you?

But I am glad that I can add it to my album, as I haven't scrapped this guy in way too long.  And this is a 5 year old photo, to boot!

Here are some detail shots.  I added a grid background piece that I created with my Silhouette, some paint, cork, stitching and a couple of embellishments clusters.

Here is a look at the sketch, created by Tabitha Triplett.

Now it's your turn, pop on over to the Let's Get Sketchy blog to see what the rest of the 'Team B'  DT created and link up your take on the sketch for your chance at this month's prize!

Recycling at it's prettiest - ScrapMuch? - Tutorial

Hi there,

I have a new tutorial to share with you today.  This one is super simple.

I love any paper with text on it, so I fell in love with this project immediately.  Plus I love re-using old jars.

To start with you will need a length of paper that fits around the perimeter of your jar of choice, plus about 1/4 inch.  Trim it to 3" tall, or whatever looks best with your jar.  The band for my smaller jar is about 2.5" tall.  Now hand cut or punch  (or use your die cutting machine) to cut a shape in the band, twice.  You will need to sort of eye ball it to determine where to put the second cut out so that when the band is affixed to the jar, you can see through both.

Now wrap the band around the jar.

I only applied glue to the very edge of the paper where it will overlap.  That way I have less work to do should I decide to reuse these for another project down the road.

This is how it looks adhered.

Next I wrapped a bit of twine around the jar.  You could fancy this up if you choose.  I am a little bit more of a rustic gal, so I went with that.

This is how they look all lit up!

Love that Smile / Stuck?! Sketches

Hi there!

There is a brand new sketch up on the Stuck?! Sketches challenge site today!  This is my take on it....

My goal for this layout was to keep it light and airy but still add some fun factor to the background.  I started out by applying some white paint using a mask that I cut out with the Silhouette.  Once that was dry I added some random dots with yellow ink via a bubble stamp. And finally I added a few flicks of blue mist.

Then I pulled out some scraps of papers and leftover elements in blues, greens and yellows. This layout is perfect for using up scraps.

You will probably notice pieces of Echo Park, October Afternoon, Fancy Pants and eve a bit of Pink Paislee, My Mind's Eye. and American Crafts,  see how nicely they mingle!

A few Studio Calico wood hearts for fun factor.

Here are a few detailed shots.

Now here is the sketch ....

I really hope you like it and consider playing along.  Running this challenge site is a whole new ball game for me and I feel like I put my heart on my sleeve each time I share a sketch.  It feels completely different than sharing a layout, as ultimately the layouts are for me.  But the sketches are hopefully inspiring to you. If I am making any sense.

Anyway, we have two great sponsors for this challenge....

And you still have time to enter our January 1st challenge for your chance at 2 more great prizes!

Note Pad Cover / ScrapMuch / Tutorial

Hi there!

I picked up these long narrow note pads a while ago intending to make 'covers' for them.  I finally got around to it and thought I would share the steps with you.  You can modify the measurements to suit any sized note pad.

To create your base, you will want to measure the length and width of your note pad, add 1/4 inch to the length, this will be the length of your paper.  Then add 1/4 inch to the width, now double the width and add another 1/4 inch for your spine. This will be the width of your paper.

Score along the length of your cover at the width of your pad plus 1/4 inch and again at 1/4 inch over.

Next I wrapped ribbon around the middle of the cover, adhering it in place and leaving enough length at either end to make  a bow when we are finished.  You may want to add a clip to hold it until the glue sets.

Now wrap the tops of the note pads with decorative papers, wrapping them up and over to the backside of the note pad for about an inch.  You will want to clip these while the adhesive sets, too.

Now wrap some twine (optional) around the top of the note pads and then adhere them onto your cover as shown.

Next I added a button to the twine.  Then I closed the booklet and started on the front cover.

For this the possibilities are endless, this is what I did to my first one.

Then I created a few more.
