Selfie Time - Inspiration Elevator - Crate Paper

Hi there and Happy Family Day to my Ontario friends!

(please scroll down for my Stuck?! Sketches reveal)

If you are a follower of Inspiration Elevator I have some sad news to share, they are retiring :(  but they are going out with a bang and have invited all the members past and present back for one last hurrah before they are gone!

Here is what they are saying...

"After some thought and consideration, the time has come to retire Inspiration Elevator. But before we go, we need to hold a big retirement party, so we've invited everyone who's been involved with Inspiration Elevator back for one last reveal, and to our delight most were able to accept! We are so delighted to have so many IE alumni along this month! Thank you to each of you for helping us end our elevator ride with so much fun and creative energy!"

This month's challenge is posed by one of IE's co-creators and team admin, Ann. Here what Ann has to say...

""This month's challenge is simple, but I hope, challenging as well.
Here's the challenge: Inspiration Elevator launched on May 15, 2012 and at that time, we explained our purpose as, "Welcome to Inspiration Elevator! What a thrilling day! Today is the launch of Inspiration Elevator (IE), a challenge blog created by my dear friend Christa Uttley and me. We chose the name Inspiration Elevator because it is our intent to raise our creativity to heights through challenges issued every month. We want to raise our designs from the ordinary to the extraordinary. We hope you'll join us on our journey!

IE is a group of like minded scrappy friends who want to raise the bar in their own creative process through unique challenges that we issue to each other once a month. These won't be run of the mill challenges and we hope you'll join us each month and be inspired by the creative designs we've created."

That vision has remained unchanged over the last (almost) 3 years. The challenge this month is to just create - no holds barred. Take some time, or challenge yourself to do it in 1/2 hour if time is tight, but think about what you'd like to create if there were no agenda, no design team requirement. In other words, create for you, and enjoy the process!""

I had a couple of other projects due to blog today, and thought I might double up and combine two layouts to shorten my to do list, but that was notreally in keeping with the Inspiration Elevator challenge.  So I decided that since I have been craving Spring like nobodies business, I would create a page that felt Spring-ish.

I picked up these Crate Paper Notes and Things papers and embellishments a while back and have been looking for a good reason to dig into them!  They look pretty Spring-like to me with their soft colours and sweet accents, so I  printed off a couple of photos, turned on some fun music and dove in!

Some times when I create  just for me, I play with more mediums and get more adventurous.  But this time I really felt like doing something fresh and clean, so this is what I created.

These photos were actually taken last summer, but that doesn't really matter since the theme for my layouts is Selfies.

I used some dark grey cardstock to mat some of my patterned paper pieces to help the colours pop off of each other.

I stitched a large circle and part of my title and then cut some letters with my Silhouette in the same grey cardstock, I used a white pen to doodle on the letters before pop dotting them into place.

I also added a mixture of Silhouette cuts that I designed and Crate Paper embellishments to adorn my page.

I don't know if you can read my journalling but it basically tells about how my little guy loves to take selfies with me and my husband just laughs at me but is learning to humour me!  Either way, I am in the photo - so I suppose that is a good thing, seeing as I can look back at all the thousands of photos from our summer adventures and not find  a single photo of me!

Product list: Crate Paper patterned paper and chipboard, My Mind's Eye enamel dots and arrow (the arrow has been topped with Stickles to better colour match it), Recollections cardstock (cleaning out some very old stash), DMC floss, American Crafts white marker, Steadtler pen.

I would like to thank Ann and Christa for inviting me back for the last challenge, it was an honour to be on the team and I love what I learned while being a part of it. We all hope you'll take the time to hop through and visit each of our participant's blogs, beginning with our guests, then our current team, and finishing off with our co-founders. Feel free to leave comments and lavish each one with appreciation for all that they each brought to the Inspiration Elevator challenge over the last 3 years!

So glad you visited today!
