Washi covered Pencil | Tutorial and free printable

Hello!

I have a fun little tutorial for you today, something to help you use up some of your Washi stash!  Now that the kiddos are back in school, it can be fun to occasionally tuck a little note or surprise into their lunch bags or book bags.  Today I will share with you how to create a custom Washi covered pencil and I also created a fun little printable to go along with it.

First gather your supplies, you will need a few pencils, a few of your favourite Washi tape colours and patterns and a few of my printables (found below). I used medium width Washi.

Begin by lining a clean edge of your Washi tape up against the bottom of the silver eraser housing.

Run the tape along the length of the pencil.

Trim at the end of the pencil, this is easier to do when the pencils are not pre-sharpened. This will cover half of the diameter of the pencil, so roll and repeat!

Aren't they pretty?

I used a basic hole punch and double punched in the centre of my printable jokes, approximately 3/4 of an inch in from each edge of the paper.  I found a single hole wasn't quite large enough, but my 1/2 inch punch would be too large. If you have another option feel free to use it, but in the interest of quick and easy I rolled with what I had!

Wouldn't these make a fun surprise!  (Please forgive the wonky colours of my printed images, it would seem my colour ink cartridges are low.)

Here is a little printable for you, clicking on the image will take you to my download page where you will find a full size colour image.  Simple download, print and trim.
