My time with YNS is just about over and today I  thought I would share a just for fun card using a sweet stamp from Your Next Stamp, I coloured up this image a while ago to practice my colouring as it had been a while since I played with my Copics. This stamp is called "Ellie loves butterflies" and she is so cute!

I decided to give her a g=home on a card and lifted a favourite card layout of mine from a few years ago, I have used it a few times now and still love it.

Washi Clips | Tutorial

Hi there!

I have a fun and super quick tip for you today.

All you need is your favourite Washi tape and a few paper clips to make some cute little embellishments.

There is nothing to it really, just wrap the Washi through and around the end of the clip and press the ends of the Washi together.  You can neatly trim or go for a torn look at the end.

I am using my clips in my planner, but of course they would be perfect on a layout or card!

Two-toned Ombre Wood Veneer Tutorial | Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits

Hi there!

I have a fun and quick tip to share today with my friends at Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits,

Grab a piece of wood veneer and two tones of one colour of Tim Holtz Distress ink and a blending tool.  I am using some pretty blues.

Starting with the lightest colour, blend the ink onto the wood veneer.  I found a swiping motion worked best, but be fairly gently so you do not break the wood veneer.

Cover the entire piece with the lightest colour.

Next add the darker colour starting at the top edge of the wood veneer and stopping a about the halfway point.

You will end up with a look like this, isn't it pretty?

Summer Sun | Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits

We are a week away from our big move, and are still hoping to keep life balanced with some play time!  The little man loves the beach, so sandcastle building day at the trailer park was a "must do".  The bonus for me is the built in photo shoot! ha!  That's is where I snapped this sunny close up.  I have a few pics of him and and his friends and their sandcastle too, perfect for another layout.

This page was created for Boys Rule, using the July /  August kit contents, which is overflowing with summery yumminess!

I started this page by stamping some white paint circles  on the this gorgeous background paper.  Next I added white paint to the edges of my photo and a few of the patterned papers.

Then I began layering up papers, stickers and ephemera - tucking in cork, wood veneer and buttons here and there as I went along.

I finished off my page with a splattering of Mr. Huey's, some very basic doodling and my journalling - of the very short and sweet variety!

Supply List:  Kit contents - Simple Stories and Pink Paislee patterned papers;  Fancy Pants wood veneer and ephemera; Crate Paper cork elements; Simple Stories, Echo Park and Kaisercraft stickers; Studio Calico Washi stickers;  misc. star clip. Other supplies  Mr. Huey's mist; DecoArt craft paint; Staedtler pen; Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher and Distress Ink; Hemptique button twine; misc. button; American Crafts vellum.

heart today layout | Cut File

Hi there!

Today I am sharing a bit of a different cut file, it is the beginnings for a layout including the title.  Please let me know your thoughts - do you like this idea, or does it not really appeal to you?

I am not 100% sure about the SVG file, as I wanted to make sure the measurements were to scale.  I know the title and scalloped piece will be fine, I added in the measurements for the other elements so hopefully that will help.  As always your feed back is appreciated!

Please leave me a link to share your creation with  me if you used this cut file.

Go Bananas | Your Next Stamp

Hi there!

Your Next Stamp is having a super fun sketch and colour challenge!  You can play along with either one or both aspects of the challenge, and then link up for your chance at a really generous gift certificate or even a GDT spot, check out the details here.

I decided to go with the sketch aspect of the challenge, using the adorable "Monkey Fun" stamp set to create both the focal image and sentiment on my card. Isn't it just the cutest!

I had some fun fussy cutting a few stamped elements for this card like the banana and the leaves. I also added some pretty green YNS gumdrops to this card, I love the way they look tucked into the leaves.

Here is a look at the sketch...

And the colour challenge...

If you are looking for inspiration for this colour challenge check out this card that I created last week for YNS. It seemed perfect for what I was creating!

Washi Tape Mask Background | Tutorial

Hi there!

Today I am sharing some tips on how to create a fun background for your next project using Washi tape as a mask.

For this project, you will need a roll of Washi tape (a wide width tape will be easier to work with, distress ink or colour mediums of your choice and white cardstock (although Kraft would also work). Just an FYI, the first time I tried this I used an inexpensive plain white cardstock and the tape tore the paper.  When I switched to American Crafts texture cardstock I did not have any problems.

For my layout, I began by adding strips of tape in a diagonal striped fashion.  I tore one side of the tape for extra interest. I would recommend using a wider tape if you are going to be tearing.  Conversely if you do not want to tear you can add interest by using a variety of widths of tape.  Also, you can use any type of pattern you would like to create with the tape.

Then I began filling in colours, choosing to work with just four.  Working across my diagonals to draw the colour down for a bit of extra impact.

Once I was done, I carefully removed the tape.  I really like the look that I achieved, it is almost water colour like.

I completed my page by placing a single photo in the centre and then adding clusters of embellishments in a single colour over the particular stripe that they coordinate with.  It was super fun going through my stash and pulling out a bunch of randomness to use on my page!

Butterfly Birthday Lift

Hi there!

I sat down to create a birthday card the other night, with my dwindling supplies as I continue to pack up what I think I don't need for the next month.  I don't know who I am trying to fool, as I am forever pulling stuff out of the moving boxes!

Anyway, I decided to create with what I had on hand, and looked to Pinterest for some help, and this card came up in the search, which struck me as lovely and perfect so I set about lifting it.

This is what I came up with:

Supplies: American Crafts cardstock from my scrap bin; Staples cardstock for the base; misc. gems; Papertrey Ink stamp; Memento ink.
