Snowy Stories | Noel Mignon

Hello and Happy New Year's Eve!  It is my turn to share a layout over on the Noel Mignon Scrapbooking Kits blog!  I am playing with the 'Oh What Fun" December classic kit!   This week the DT members were asked to use icy elements on their projects which was super simple with this gorgeous kit! I opted for snowy background paper, snowflakes, snowmen and metallics to pull off my look.

To further embrace the theme I opted to document this photo of my son in the snow fort that he created.

I began with a snowy background paper and built up a few simple layers.

Then I added in a gold embossed snow flake and chipboard snowman.

Snowmen, snowflakes a metallic sequins, as well as glitter gold colour shine further  add to the theme.

I even added the word snow in my title!

I also have a new process video today, you can watch the video for this layout below or here on my You-Tube channel

Winter Unicorn | Seasonal Card

Hey there!  A funny thing happened when it came to be about mid December and I had a post scheduled for every day up until then, I felt the need to challenge myself to post each and every day in December. Because you know, December is not at all busy enough!  I was cruising along really well, too! With lots of regularly scheduled posts and a few exciting opportunities this month I was able to fill in a ton of days, adding in some of my handmade Christmas cards helped to fill in a few blanks.  But then there was today - a day when I had nothing scheduled, and no real desire to do anything in particular.  I thought about sharing another card that I had already created, but it didn't really inspire me to start typing.  That's when I remembered that I had this fun stamp set sitting on my desk.

I came in the December Noel Mignon classic kit and I was itching to use it.  The only thing is, is that it is already after Christmas.  Are we tired of Christmas sharing yet?  I know I still need to share a bit more of my December Daily, but I am still working away on it so that will have to wait until January, especially since we have had so many grey days.

Anyway, this little guy was smiling up at me, so I took him out to play and came up with this.

I also used up a few more goodies from my Noel Mignon kit!  As I love to do, I created a little scene for this guy.  The snowy hills were cut free hand from white cardstock, because I was too lazy to die cut them - now that is LAAZZY!

The striped paper, tree, heart and stars as well as the stamp set were all from the Noel Mignon kit.  The rest were stash items.

Supply List:  Lawn Fawn Winter Unicorn stamp set: Memento black ink; Copics (R22, R24, R00, YG21, YG23, YG67, Y26, Y28, C00, C0, C2); Clearstar Gelly Roller; Clear Wink of Stella; Ranger Texture Paste; MFT snowfall mask; Tim Holtz tumbled glass Distress Ink; Pretty Little Studio acrylic starts; Elle's Studio puffy stickers; Simple Stories patterned paper (solid blue and red); Pebbles striped patterned paper; Recollections, Staples and Copic Express-it cardstock.

Now I just have one more regularly scheduled share for tomorrow and that wraps up a solid month!  Thanks so much for hanging out with me during December!

Thankful | Simple Stories

I have a layout to share today documenting how our youngest son is developing a love for cooking and is quite good at it! Aside from the obvious, which is that he can now do some of the cooking, I also love that he is being creative, developing new passions and is making hobbies that do not involve screen time!I dug into my Hello Fall collection from Simple Stories.

I began my page with a desire to use this 6x12 cut apart card as a focal area. I trimmed it down and fussy cut around the flowers at the bottom of it, and then matted it with the orange patterned paper in this collection.  I adhered my entire focal piece to this beautiful wood-grained paper from the Sn@p Basic pack, it offers so much warmth to my page.

I tucked a few more nature inspired elements in at the bottom of the main focal area and added in some craft foam for dimension.

Then I created a horizontal layer under my photo to host my title by cutting a double ended banner piece from plaid paper.  I utilized die cuts as titles on both of my layouts. The "bits and pieces" pack for this collection is just too perfect!  After stitching my title into place, I moved on to create a couple of embellishment clusters.

For this first cluster, I gathered a few food themed die cuts and tucked them into this sweet red wagon, via a slit I cut into it with my craft knife. I couldn't resist adding the adorable fox in there as well, and I just love the way it turned out!  I also added my journaling to this area.

The left side of the layout received a taller cluster that also focuses on the food theme.  Again, I love the way this page turned out and I love that I was able to use the Hello Fall collection to document things I am grateful for!

2016 Top Ten Favourite Layouts + Giveaway! | Blog Hop

Hey there!  I am so excited to be participating in the 2016 Top Ten Favourite Layouts Blog Hop, along with a bunch of other crafty talents!

I am sharing my projects here, on Instagram and I also have a You-Tube video flip through with a bit more info, so be sure to check that out as well!  I began by trying to choose one layout per month and then had a bit of a hard time narrowing it down to 10.  I had the privilege of working with so many amazing collections and kits this year that inspired me so much and as a result helped me to create layouts that make me happy - which puts them on my favourites list!  I also learned that even tough I thought I had a preference for muted colours, the majority of my favourite pages feature bright colours!  Go figure, I guess my taste buds are changing!

So without further ado, here they are in chronological order:

Him | Stash Kit Layout

Hi there! I am sharing a new layout today created with my stash kit. I am still loving my kit and I think the trick to using and keeping a stash kit fun is to mix things up and use other collections / kits in between.  Also, shop your stash for more goodies if the need arises.  It is a win - win! You can see more of my stash kit creations and ow I pulled my kit together by following this link.

I created this page (and only this page) at a retreat I attended in November! And if I am being truthful, I would have to admit that I did not even finis it there, as I added machine stitching and the navy color shine mist at home.  Plus I just realized now that I did not add any journalling or even the date, which I quickly did as I was writing this post - just the date that is as this was just a fun photo snapped for no particular reason.

Anyway back to the layout, I opted for a linear design of stacked elements to the left of my photo.  I is a fun way to use up some scrap paper or a perfect desgin if you are creating with a 6x6 paper pad.

I took my cue for the size of my paper strips from this rub-on by Kaisercraft that I really wanted to incorporate onto my page.  I love the way it breaks up the pattern papers and plays into the white space.

This large die cut, from Fancy Pants was leftover from a summery collection from a couple of years back and I was determined to get it onto a page, it makes a perfect title for this just for fun photo. The 't' monogram is from Making memories and has been in my stash for more years than I care to could, so I am super happy it has been stuck down on something.  I may have another in my bin of goodies ;) .

My photo was matted with a couple of simple layers and then I tucked in some fun tags and layers around it. I love using up labels stickers this way, it offers a super easy way to add layers to your focal area.

I also have several of these DCWV envelopes in my stash, using one as a layer was a nice way to use it, and I love the white on white look.  A few more embellishments on this side of the photos, and the a few strips of paper along the right edge of the layout finish off my layout nicel.

Supply List:  Authentique, Amy Tangerine, Carta Bella, Echo Park and Photo Play patterned papers; Freckled Fawn, Jillibean Soup, October Afternoon, and Studio Calico stickers; Fancy Pants die cuts; Simple Stories chipboard frame, enamel dots and clip; Evalicious flair and wood accents; Heidi Swapp wood veneer and Navy Color Shine; Kaisercraft rub-ons; Making Memories acrylic monogram; DCWV envelope; Martha Stewart twine; American Crafts textured white cardstock.

HOHOHO Memories | Noel Mignon

Happy holidays!  It is my turn to share a layout over on the Noel Mignon Scrapbooking Kits blog!  I am playing with the 'Oh What Fun" December classic kit!   This week the DT members were asked to create with the theme "All the Trimmings' and more specifically to use 3 types of embellishments.  Since I am a huge fan of embellishments and tend to add a lot of them to my pages, I opted to go for a looser interpretation of this challenge.  I used a combination of paper, plastic and fabric embellishments! You know, paper as in Washi, cardstock leaves, and chipboard; fabric as is thread, ribbon and flowers; and plastic as is sequins and bradz, an acrylic word and a clip.

Any way, on to my layout.

I am documenting a new photo today, sent to me by my son shortly after they had the photos taken.  Actually he sent me a link to download all of the photos - how lucky am I!!

I opted to die cut a large stocking from white cardstock (a Silhouette store cut file) and back it with Pebbles patterned  paper and then hand stitch around it with white crochet thread. It wasn't too time consuming and only took about 30 minutes.

Then I worked on creating the cuff for the stocking, cutting the pieces from some of the cardstock that was included in the kit and adding some machine stitching around them.  These pieces were layered onto craft foam for some dimension.

And then I had fun with embellishing, layering chipboard, flowers, bradz and sequins.

I also added a small cluster embellishments to the upper right side of my page.

I have a new process video today, you can watch the video for this layout below or here on my You-Tube channel!

Supply List:  American Crafts cardstock in pine, scarlet and white; Pebbles patterned papers "Christmas greetings", "candy stripes" and "holly" all from the Holly Jolly collection; May Arts ribbon; Maya Road flowers; Echo Park Chipboard; Simple Stories bradz and clips; Elle's Studio washi tape; Pretty Little Studios acrylic word.  From my stash: white crochet thread; silver thread; silver sequins; Smooch mist (ice rink) My Mind's Eye vellum; Sharpie pen.

Dashing through the Snow (part 2) | Chistmas Cards

Hey there!

I am sharing a couple of clean and simple Christmas cards today.  I created the green one for my husband and figured I should make a second one at the same time! The image is from Tiddly Inks.

After colouring my images, I worked on my card base, using a stencil form MFT called "Snowfall: to add some silver texture paste.  I love the look!

I kept the design very basic and simply matted my texture pasted background onto patterned paper.  Then added some dimensional adhesive behind my reindeer.  I love that they are bright and bold, simple yet eye catching!

Christmas Wishes Elf | Christmas Card

Hello!  I am sharing another card today, this time using a fun Elf image from Whimsie Doodles. I created this card for our grandson - who happens to be the recipient of our Elf on the Shelf this year!

I imported the digital stamp into my Silhouette software and layered it on top of a shelf cut file that I created and used the pair together as a print and cut option.  I ended up covering most of the shelf up with my sentiment but you get the gist.

Supply List: Whimsie Doodle Digital stamp: Copics ( E2, E25, E23, R24, R27. R29, YG23, YG25,  YG63, E23, E29, E000, E00, E11, R20); My Mind's Eye and Jillibean Soup patterned papers; Teresa Collins enamel dots;  Martha Stewart Bakers Twine; American Crafts, Recollections, Staples and Copic Express it cardstock; Papertrey In sentiment stamp; Memento brown ink.

December Daily Recipe Folder | Tutorial

Hey there!  I am sharing a little tutorial today for my recipe folder that I added to my December Moments (Daily) album.

In case you missed it, or to refresh your memory this is what the outside of my folder looks like, it is perfect for hosting a photo or photos.

It flips open to reveal my recipes, but you could adapt this idea for anything you like.

My recipes are adhered with Washi tape and can flip up the show the next recipe card.

So I began by trimming down a patterned paper to the height of my album pages, which in my case was just under 8.5 inches .  I am using a Striped Holiday SN@P! Binder for my album.

Next I rounded the corners on the two edges of the side that will fold over and be the front.

Now you will need to know the width of your pages, and score accordingly mine are about 6 inches.

At this point I wasn't sure whether my page would open to the left or right, but no worries it is adaptable either way.

Mark your the location of your binder ring holes using a page protector or other page from your album.

And punch with a hole punch.

I decided I wanted mine to look a little more like a file folder.

So I punched a partial circle with my largest circle punch (2 inches).  I absolutely love the effect it created.

And I really love the finished look!

Supply List:
Striped Holiday SN@P! Binder
Classic Christmas patterned paper  Fun and Frosty and 4x4 & 4x6 Vertical Elements
Classic Christmas Bits & Pieces and Washi Tape and  Enamel Dots & Shapes
