Congrats to the Graduate | Card

Hey there!

Our young man is graduating from grade 8 today, I can't even believe it!  Our little guy is gone and in his place is this tall, smart, great young man!  I am so proud of him, he has had a great year!  I am posting this card before the big ceremony tonight, as I imagine I will be a sobbing momma tonight!

This card is a Pinterest lift, unfortunately I cannot steer you in the direction of the person I lifted it from as I accidentally deleted my inspiration Pinterest board. I opted to use my son's school colours which are purple and gold, to personalize this card for him.

The tassel is a quicky DIY project, and the sentiment is a die cut finished off with some good old fashioned typing.  I have had these card cups in my stash for a long, long time now and am happy I used at least one up!  The sequins are from SpiegelMom Scraps.

Supply List: American Crafts cardstock and card base; Teresa Collins gold patterned paper; Pebbles text patterned paper; SpiegelMom Scraps sequins {purple rain, gold stardust}; American Crafts enamel dots; WRMK Typecast typewriter; DMC floss; Stampin Up cup.

Sharing Your Joy | Wedding Shower Card

Hey there!

I am sharing a really pretty card today (or at least I think so) that I created for a wedding shower.  My friend's beautiful and sweet daughter is getting married this summer, I had to miss the shower but I cannot wait for the wedding!

I was inspired to create this cut file for this card by a free clip art I saw online.  I can see me using it over and over again.

I kept the colours and embellishing really simple to give my design a more elegant nod.

Supply List: American Crafts and Recollections cardstock; Your Next Stamp sentiment; Zva Creations pearls (so nice to use up some of these!); misc. ribbon; Colorbox silver ink.

Thanks so much for visiting today!

June Card Set | My Creative Scrapbook

Hey there!

Today I am sharing a Card Set that I created for  My Creative Scrapbook using the June main kit! I had so much fun with this month's kit and have very few pieces left, which will go into my stash.  I actually had ordered the Fancy Pants "Family & Co." collection before I knew I would be getting it in the kit, no matter though as I love it so!

I have decided, since somewhat accidentally creating card sets with the last two kits, that this will be a "thing for me for the next while.  It is so fun and they are great to give away as a gift set.

I opted to go for a clean and simple look and although I used a mix of Jillibean Soup and Fancy Pants goodies, I tied them all together by using the same kraft paper card bases.

I love the way the red and plaid patterned papers play off of the kraft paper bases!

All four of my cards were embellished very simply.

I am trying to use a variety of themes for my card sets, hoping to make them more useful to the recipient.

This card needed a bit of something, a few drawn lines were just the thing to make it pop.

I had fun hand cutting a balloon shape that I drew to adorn this card!

The Jillibean Soup stickers play off of this Fancy Pants patterned paper very nicely.

This card features somewhat softer colours but still works with the set since it features the same kraft base and simple design.

You know I am a huge fan of multi font titles and sentiments, so I was thrilled to be able to create this one from the kit contents.

Supply List: (From the Kit) Jillibean Soup "Souper Celebration"  label stickers; Fancy Pants "Family and Co." {good times and family matters} patterned paper, die cuts, puffy stickers and chipboard stickers; twine.  (From my Stash) Recollections cardstock; YG25 and BG49 Copics; Sharpie pen.

Pumpkin Patch

Hey there!

I am sharing a layout and process video today, originally created for the June 20th Stash Bash You-Tube hop, but it ended up not turning out as I had hoped so I put it aside and created a new project. I decided I might as well share the layout that didn't make the cut, as I am sure we all have them!

I was going for a large string art look for my pumpkin in the background, I think I missed the mark.

This embellishment cluster gave me the run around to create, but in the end I like it - even though I did have to fix it off camera.

The title strategically covers a spot where I accidentally cut my string art stitching.  I can't decide if the journalling area makes this cluster too large. Hmm.

This area works!

As does this!

As I mentioned, I have a process video for this page, you can watch my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

Supply List: Pebbles patterned papers and wood veneer; Echo Park and Simple Stories stickers; Simple Stories chipboard; Fancy Pants flair; Doodlebug and My Mind's Eye enamel dots; My Mind's Eye journal card; DMC floss and misc. button.

Love My Boys | My Creative Scrapbook

Hello! I am back sharing another project for My Creative Scrapbook, I had some of the June main kit contents left over so I thought I would create one more page.

I was a bit stumped with some of the Fancy Pants embellishments from this "Family & Co." collection as the patterned papers had pops of red, but some of the puffy stickers were decidedly orange.   This page came about in an attempt to embrace the orange.

This is a photo of my older two boys, taken in the late 90's, I have pulled out several older photos to scrapbook and this one was pretty neutral so it seemed a good choice for my self imposed challenge.

I used some Gelatos and a Distress Crayon along with a mask to add some mixed media to my background, via the baby wipe technique.  I also added splatters of mist in black and blue.  As a final touch I used the same mask and a Sharpie to add a few heart outlines to my background.

I went large with my title pulling some puffy stickers and some of the chipboard alphas.

From there, I just had fun pushing around embellishments until I hit on a grouping that worked for me.

I also added in some random doodling, just for fun!

You can watch my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

Supply List: (From the Kit) Fancy Pants "Family & Co." patterned papers {love at home, family matters, here with you},die cuts, puffy stickers, chipboard alphas and chipboard stickers; rustic twine. (From my stash) Shimmerz oh say can u sea"; black Mr. Huey's mist; black Sharpie pen; Distress Crayon {spice marmalade}; Gelatos { blood orange, tangerine}.

Fall Moments | Stash Bash

Hey there!  It's time for a new Stash Bash You-Tube hop, and this month we are focusing on twine or ribbon! I opted to de-stash some floss, since I seem to keep acquiring it, and I am okay with hoarding my twine - because it is nice to look at!

Keep reading to the end for a list of the talented ladies hopping this month.

While I am not ready for summer to be over, as it hasn't yet officially begun, I did feel like scrapping this Fall page.  Mostly because I thought it would be fun to de-stash a photo that has been in my "to scrap" pile for a while.  Two birds, as they say!

As you can see, I opted to die cut my title and used the floss to stitch around it.  It is a fun look that is super easy to create, even if you do not own a Silhouette Machine!

I created a couple of layers behind my photo, using up almost all of the scraps I had left from these two Simple Stories collections!  And then I added a fun embellishment cluster to my photo, as well. That flair is from many years ago and it was nice to use it up!

I also opted to add a bit of embellishing to a couple of the letters.  I think they look super cute!

Final steps included adding journalling, stitching and a bit of brown mist splatters!

You can see my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

Here is a list of those of us participating this month, for your hopping pleasure!

Supply list: Simple Stories Hello Fall and Gather Together patterned paper:  Simple Stories Hello Fall 4x6 stickers, cardstock stickers, chipboard, ephemera: Simple Stories Posh enamel dots: Echo Park chipboard; Jillibean Soup kraft paper; Fancy Pants flair; Sharpie pen;  Mr. Huey's brown mist; DMC floss.

Paper Lantern Swag | Free Cut File

Hey there!  For some reason this cut file came to me as I was contemplating what to create for you this month.  Likely because we have been cooped up for days at a time this month due to loads of rain.  It's like we get one nice day and then four crappy days.  Oh well, at least you can't feel guilty about creating on yucky day!

Hope you enjoy the file!

As always, click on the image to be taken to my download page.

Greatest Dad Ever | Stuck?! Sketches

Hey there!  I am sharing a new sketch, layout and a process video for the June 15th challenge at  Stuck?! Sketches, today!

Here is a look at my sketch:

This sketch has a fairly simple design with a suggested pop of masking in the background.

I decided to layer two masks to add some ink to my background.  I love the effect I just wish I had chosen different masks so that the shape was a little more defined.

I also added some splatters of mist to my background.  I am loving the colours that I am pulling from this collection!

From there I layered papers, washi tape and embellishments around and behind my focal photo.

I seriously had so much fun!

I even added a bit of a bonus cluster!  Machine stitching is a final touch.

We have two amazing and super supportive sponsors this month over at Stuck?! Sketches

As I mentioned, I have a process video for this page, you can watch my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

Supply List: Fancy Pants "Good Fellows' patterned papers, flair, tags and ephemera; Freckled Fawn wood veneer and washi tape; Recollections enamel dots; Simple Stories enamel shapes; Pumice Stone Distress Ink: Bookworm and Water cooler Mr. Huey's mist; Heidi Swapp mask.

Real Life Epic Fail | My Creative Scrapbook

Hi there!  I am back today sharing my second process video (and third layout) using the June main kit from My Creative Scrapbook!  As I mentioned last week, I was super inspired by this kit, to create all sorts of layouts.  So far I have created a page about my middle son's little family, a second page about home renovations and today's page is about a silly mishap my youngest son had while we were kayaking!

I opted for this bright polka dot paper as my background but kept things from getting too busy by allowing for lots of white space.

This page was inspired by the large chipboard piece that reads "epic fail", I thought it was super fun and decided to pair it with the "real life" die cut to create a title.  I had been wanting to scrap this photo of my son's failed kayak launch from last summer, but I was waiting for the perfect piece of inspiration to cross my desk, and sure enough this was it!

I added three embellishment clusters, this large cluster also incorporates my typewritten journalling.

The smallest embellishment area is to the right of my photo and is very very minimal, this last cluster at the bottom of my page represents my mid sized cluster.  I have mentioned before that I most often do three embellishment clusters, which also vary in size.

You can watch my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

Supply List: (From the Kit) Fancy Pants "Family & Co." patterned papers {love at home, family matters, good times, here with you, our house}, die cuts, puffy stickers and chipboard stickers; Jillibean Soup "Souper Celebration" label stickers. (From my stash) Recollections cardstock; WRMK typewriter; black Staedtler pen.

Summer by the Beach | Summer Scrappin' You-Tube Hop

Hi there!  Audrey Yeager is hosting a 12 Days of Summer Scrapping You-Tube series, which began on the 8th of June (in case you missed the start).  I will share her channel link below.  As with her Holiday Scrapping series, she invited guests to post along with her, including yours truly!

Today is my turn to share a video, I had a ton of fun creating this page!

I didn't use much patterned paper for this layout other than a piece for matting the page and a  couple of cut apart cards to matt my photos.  But it is still fun, vibrant and beachy - largely due to my colourful die cut pieces!

I wanted to create a scene on my layout to surround these photos of my grandson, so I began by painting a  6.5 inch circle with Gesso.  Then I added a few shades of Gelatos and Distress Crayons to represent the sky. Then I hand-stitched around it with embroidery floss.

After that I coloured several beach themed die cuts, which were cut from white cardstock, with Gelatos.  This is a super fun process, less stressful than adding regular mixed media to a layout, for me at least.

I combined this "summer" sticker from Simple Stories with a rub-on from Scenic Route (yes it is super duper old) to create my title.

I raided a few old sticker sheets to embellish my page.

As I mentioned, I have a process video for this page, you can watch my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here.

You can find Audrey's Summer Scrapping series here on her You-Tube channel.

Supply List: DCWV patterned papers; American Crafts white cardstock; Jillibean Soup kraft paper; Sargent Arts Gesso; Gelatos {blood orange, tangerine, banana, lemon, cotton candy, aqua dolce, squid ink, green tea, gold champagne}; Distress Crayons {salty ocean, lucky clover}; Scenic Route rub-ons; Simple Stories, Echo Park and Bo Bunny Stickers; misc. crochet thread; Simple Stories and Recollections enamel dots; DMC embroidery floss; Sharpie pen; ; Mr. Huey's white; Shimmerz "oh say can you sea" mist; Tattered Angels "sky" mist.
