This is Love | Stash Bash

Hey there!

Today I am sharing a new layout for the Stash Bash You-Tube hop, we are having fun using up some of our mists this month!

I wanted to use mists in a unique way, a way that would make more of an impact than how I would typically use them.  I decided I would try my hand at painting with them!

It took a couple of tries, but within a few minutes I was able to create a shape that somewhat resembles a nondescript flower, lol!

After I created one that I liked, I turned on the camera and created another one as part of my process video.  The first couple of flowers took about 10-15 minutes each to create, after that I got a little more brave and worked faster.  Funnily, I liked the flowers that I didn't stress over better!  Anyway, I created a handful of flowers in a couple of sizes, opting for an orange and goldish yellow colour scheme. Why I chose these colours, I cannot tell you, they are a little out of my norm, maybe because it was dark and gloomy the day that I created this page!

Once I had my flowers finished and let them dry for a few minutes, I fussy cut them out and set about creating my page, featuring one of my son and daughter-in-laws engagement photos.

Other than these bright flowers, I kept things pretty simple, embellishing with a few small ephemera pieces, rubons, puffy stickers and gems.

I do love this large gold word as my title, it holds the perfect amount of punch for this page.

I finished up by adding some messy stitching and some splatters of mist. I love the way it turned out!

You can watch my process below or on my You-Tube channel here!

Here is a list with links to all of the You-Tube channels, of those of us participating this month, for your hopping pleasure!

Fall Fun | My Creative Scrapbook

Hi there!

There is a fun sketch challenge going on over at  My Creative Scrapbook, and I created the sketch!  Along with a peek at the sketch, I am sharing my take on it and a process video with you today!

As you can see the sketch features 3 small photos and lots of paper layers. I hope you decide to play along, I would love to see your take on it.  The sketch challenge is open to everyone not just kit club members.  You can link up your layout on the MCS Inspiration Facebook group.

This is my layout, I love that I was able to balance loads of pattern with some white space!  I also had fun with some mixed media as the sketch suggested!.

These photos are so funny to me, we were trying to get our pup to pose for the camera, he was not very cooperative, looking everywhere but at me!  My husband kept trying to help him but it just wasn't working. We did manage to get one or two not too terrible pics, though.  The photos on this page are the out takes, I thought it would be fun to document them.

I combined two stickers for my title, adding a fish tale edge to one.  I moved it slightly from where the sketch suggested so that I could incorporate it into this cluster.  I love that the tree and house create a little scene!

I added two colours of mist and some white textured paste, which I put through the stencil that came in the kit, to speak to the sketch suggested mixed media, along with paint rings.

I also added more journaling than I could fit in the area that the sketch suggested so I created a new area for it and added a little bit of embellishing around it. I really love these small phrase stickers for this purpose.

This embellishing area is fairly simple, just a die cut and a couple of stickers.  I am glad that I could use the twig, as I wasn't sure I would ever use it, but it works perfectly on this page!

You can view my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here!

Supply List: Simple Stories Vintage Blessings patterned papers (So Very Blessed, So Thankful, Warm and Cozy, Homespun Happiness, Love & Laughter, Happy Life, 3x4 journaling card elements), cardstock stickers, bits and pieces and 4x6 stickers; Echo Park ZigZag stencil. From my stash: Ranger texture paste; DecoArt burnt umber paint; Prima soft teal mist; harvest orange Glimmermist.

DHS | Stuck?! Sketches

Hi there! It is time for our mid-month challenge at Stuck? Sketches, so that means I get to share a new sketch, layout and a process video with you today!

Here is a look at the sketch:

It is a single photo page, but hey, do your thing!

This is my take on it:

As you can see, I flipped the order of the journalling card and photo, but kept everything else pretty much the same.

I added a fun set of stitched Mickey ears in lieu of the suggested circular element, I love the way they look!

I also added some stenciled stars and mist splatters.

My title features really, really old Jenni Bowlin alphas, I was totally hoarding these - time to use them up!

My embellishing is pretty simple on this page, well for me anyway!

I opted to use this fun banner sticker instead of the suggested strip of paper.  I even added some machine stitching along it!

As promised here is my video, you can watch it here or on my You-Tube channel.

We have two fabulous sponsors helping us out this month...

Supply List: Echo Park Magical Adventure patterned papers and stickers; American Crafts Cardtstock; Jenni Bowlin alpha stickers; Tim Holtz tumbled glass Distress Ink: Plaid stencil; Smooch "ice rink" Spritz; Queen & Co. "magic 3" flair; Carta Bella "snow fun" enamel dots; Jillibean Soup buttons; EK Success Mickey Ears punch; misc ribbon and thread; Sharpie pen.

Welcome Fall | My Creative Scrapbook

Hi there!

I am sharing another layout and process video with you today!  This page was created with the gorgeous November Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook!  The kit is amazing, featuring goodies from the Simple Stories "Vintage Blessings"  collection.

While my last two pages were bright and airy and light on pattern this layout features rich Fall colours and plays on many of the patterns in the kit!

The colours were pulled from this sweet photo!  I wanted to use this brown plaid paper as a background and layer in some other patterns, but didn't want to get too much clashing going on, so I used the other patterns minimally in the form of some hand cut triangles. I also layered in a couple of strips of one of the striped papers to tie in all of the colours.

As I love to do, I created a multi font title using the Jen Hadfield stickers and a Simple Stories sticker.

From there I worked on a couple of embellishment clusters to carry my featured colours around my page.

I briefly wished that I had two brown buttons to use on my page, and then quickly realized that I could rectify this by colouring a white one with a brown Sharpie, it worked like a charm!

I also added in a bit of machine stitching for added texture.

You can view my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here!

Supply List: Simple Stories Vintage Blessings patterned paper (4x6 horizontal elements, warm and cozy, happy life, love and laughter, homespun happiness), 4x6 stickers, chipboard pieces, cardstock stickers, bits and pieces; Jen Hadfield Home+Made foil phase stickers; Jillibean Soup buttons. (From my stash) misc thread; brown Sharpie

Home is Where our Story Begins | My Creative Scrapbook

Hi there!

I am sharing another layout and process video with you today, using the November main kit from My Creative Scrapbook!  The kit is amazing, featuring goodies from Simple Stories "Vintage Blessings" collection, I know you will love it! I really enjoyed creating with is for both Fall and everyday layouts!

Last week, I shared a Fall layout so today I am sharing an everyday layout.  I loved the little houses in the kit and paired a pretty one with the word "home" from the Jen Hadfield stickers that were also included in the kit for this layout.  I was further inspired by the vintage roses from this collection for this page, but wanted to keep things from being too heavy so I opted to use the stickers opposed to the patterned paper, which felt much heavier to me.  I think I achieved a more modern take on the vintage rose.

These gold words are so gorgeous, they have shimmer but not too much! The small flower and heart stickers fill in the trapped space I created and also serve as my third embellishment cluster.

I used minimal pattern on my layout, which helped to keep it clean looking and not too heavy, opting instead to add the pattern to the back of my page in the form of the pretty pink polka dots.

I did use pattern in the form of that scalloped border sticker and a very narrow strip of striped paper which sandwich the lace that came in the kit.  If you look closely you can see that I added some gold stitching here and around my page.

I stacked phrase stickers and tucked in a rose sticker to create my first cluster.

My second cluster was created by layering a sticker onto a DIY tag and tucking in a couple of chipboard pieces.

You can view my process video below or on my You-Tube channel here!

Supply List: Simple Stories Vintage Blessings patterned paper (gather together, 4x4 elements, 3x4 journaling elements), 4x6 stickers, chipboard pieces, cardstock stickers, bits and pieces; lace; Jen Hadfield Home+Made foil phrase stickers; Jillibean Soup buttons. (From my stash) American Crafts cardstock; misc thread; Tim Holtz 'gathered twig' distress marker; crochet thread..
